Declaration of Independence....Who Cares?

In previous weeks I have posted a few observations regarding our current President and his ever-increasing efforts to enforce his ‘government is the answer’ ideology on us all as he seeks to ‘fundamentally transform America’ away from a Constitutional republic to something else he deems better. In a Jan 30 Facebook post I explained at little as to why I have been doing so and so to ‘get me’ you might want to read that post. I also wrote that in the days to come I would be sharing some of my observations on the ‘roots’ that are producing ‘the fruit’ which are the actions our President is taking that I feel are not helpful and in fact may prove to be quite harmful to our current situation and most certainly to our future….

Just a guy, sharin’ his thoughts…...Here we go.....
Those who disrespect, disregard and attempt to circumvent the Constitution often do so because they, at worst, disagree or at best simply do not respect the second and third sentences of the Declaration of Independence which say “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. --That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed….”

The Declaration of Independence was written long before (approx. 11 years) the Constitution….The Declaration ‘declares’ that we are sovereign individuals who have been given certain rights by God AND that government is instituted to secure those rights that have been given by God AND that those in government derive their powers FROM the governed….Not vice versa!

‘Big Government’ folks (and our President is one) believe that government bestows rights and therefore whatever action is necessary to give/take rights is justified, even if it means disregarding, disrespecting or circumventing the Constitution. Case in point: Declaring health care as a new ‘right’ and thereby justifying the MANDATE that sovereign individuals, simply because they are breathing, engage in commerce by procuring a product (health insurance) they may not want and MANDATING that private insurance companies engage in commerce by selling a product to individuals that they may not want to sell their product to and MANDATING that ‘religious’ healthcare providers MUST provide products and services that are against their individual and collective conscience and if those sovereign individuals, private insurance companies and ‘religious’ healthcare providers do not comply they will be punished with fines, levies and perhaps jail time…Unconstitutional, incredible, and sad, and dangerous.

CAUTION: When government starts ‘handing out rights’ they can also take them away.
